Return To Matsuri : Part I

Posted by Luke.H On November - 19 - 2009

So what a crazy weekend once again in Fukushima, Japan for the Ebisu Drift Matsuri. The weekend started off with a negative vibe forecasted for rain all day Saturday and partly on Sunday but still this did not stop us getting over 40+ plus interviews with the drivers at the event including, Daigo Saito, Naoto Suenaga, Paul Vlasblom from Holland and a heap of Aussie’s and Japanese locals.

The first set of photos below are from a little digi cam Don Vito was using all weekend but stay tuned as the next post will be snap shots taken from my camera of all the close up action, crashes and one on one interviews.

Here i am pictured below filming on the famous Minami D1 course.

That yellow tape in the bottom of the picture says “no entry”.

The view from a very unsafe and scary look out thats hanging over the edge of the mountain at Kita course.

Yes that is a wasp nest!!!

Here is a guy your going to be seeing a heap of, Don AKA Don Vito my right hand man when it
comes to interviewing anyone thats standing in front of my camera lense.

Even the pros can drive a little too hard, here is Daigo Saito writing off his car.

Don took this snap shot up at Kita course where the Aussie boys were playing the famous bottle game.
Now picture where im standing, directly in front of this car as its head towards my camera and body at over 80 clicks!

Stay tuned, on the next post i will show you some snap shots that no one else on the internet will
have, why? Simple, no one else gets as close to the action as we do and im talking about inches from moving cars.

Sunday moring heading down to the back section of Minami for some more filming.

Sunday afternoon the sky opened up once again and showered us with water. This did not
Paul Vlasblom driving just as fast as he was in the dry but now in the wet.

Spot the Japanese, the first ever G1 Grand Prix (Gaijin - foreigner only) event and we were there
interviewing the drivers and filming the action!

matsuri_11

Paul Vlasblom from the Netherlands was driving like a mad man all weekend!

matsuri_12

  1. DVito Said,

You managed some pretty sick pics out of that lot I took! Though you’re now gonna get flamed for having a Yank interviewer haha

And let me know how my video turned out. Looking at your footage now I think we have a similar style so you may actually be alright with it

Luke, nice shots there. I just sent Bobby the one with him in the passenger seat of that car. Wish the image had more speed into it.

    Keep in touch green!
